Gulupa

Description: Gulupa is a fruit native to Colombia that It is characterized by its small, round shape and wrinkled, yellow to orange skin. It has a hard and shiny outer shell that encases a sweet and tangy pulp with a gelatinous texture and small edible seeds. The pulp has a bright orange color and a distinctively tropical aroma.

Seasonality: November - May, July - September.

Properties: It is a source of calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins A, B, and C; which are beneficial for digestive health and immunity. Gulupa is rich in dietary fiber.

Use and Applications: Gulupa's sweet-tart flavor makes it ideal for making juices, salads, jams, and desserts. The sifted pulp can also be used to make jellies, sauces, cocktails, and ice cream.
