Flowers are one of the best things we get from Nature, so it’s very important that we don’t take more than it can give us. Here at Capiro, we take pride and satisfaction in the fact that our processes are sustainable, so that people can continue to enjoy the many rewards that flowers bring us for many generations to come. Working to bring the freshest cut flowers to consumers around the world is an example of the promise of the floral industry and its responsibility to people and the environment.

In Colombia, it also means that behind our flowers there are different people working hard to share our nature with you. Farmers dedicated for many generations to their crops, single mothers who bring their nurturing spirit to our fields, wise breeders who have learned from decades of experience and young people with fresh ideas. Thousands of families who grow through our flowers. For us, that adds to their beauty.

In Capiro we have worked hard to reduce the use of energy, water and chemicals in all flowers, to avoid alterations in their environment. We do everything with love for our privileged land, taking care of our resources in a big way.

Some of the things we do:

• Reduce waste: recycling is everything, so we have made it a habit to dispose of waste correctly and also to use crop residues to make compost.
• Protecting our water: We take care of water, one of the main resources used in floriculture. We present to the Colombian authorities programs that promote the efficient use of water and its saving. Likewise, we involve each of our production centers with cultivation activities, seeking to reduce the consumption of this resource and avoid waste.
• Pest control: We have reduced pesticides harmful to bees by 100%.
• Transportation: We transport 83% of our flowers by sea, which reduces our carbon footprint and benefits the environment.

Sustainability is very important to those who grow and love flowers. We want a world where more flowers and more human beings can grow. Any flower that reaches you, that surprises you on a special day or finds a place in your living room, can be a flower that came from our production centers in Colombia.
